BIOGRAPHY

ANA MARÍN GÁLVEZ

Academically speaking I entered the world of sculpture in 1978, studying Sculptural Procedures in the Llotja school of Barcelona (Arts and Crafts school in the city).

I worked some months in a woodworking shop in Vic and then spent two years in Madrid working with the sculptor Amador Braojos, where I learned different technics of metal castings.

I studied some of the tenics that can be developed with the Glass in the glass school of Barcelona for three years. And then, once again in “Arts and Crafts” school, the engraving speciality.

I am interested in the evoking poetic of the origins. I have applied these interests working on archetyps of both sexes (Masks and Venuse) in relation to the balance between male and female.

The idea of tactile sculpture was born from the concern of sharing and from the study of culture and senses. The sculpture as a three-dimensional object serves not only to lead to a contemplative activity but it’s also an object of empirical knowledge, giving its touchable nature. And provideing the perception of form, texture and temperature to those who don’t have the sense of sight, but also to those who want to experience the sense of touch as a complement to the visual information. This is a journey in which I am engaged now and that excites me.

Regarding teaching, I've been teaching fine art for 25 at different levels and ages, which includes training of trainers in the disability field.
